Music and opera are well represented in Santa Fe with the annual Santa Fe Opera productions, which take place between late June and late August each year, and the Santa Fe Chamber Music Festival which is also held at the same time, mostly in the recently-refurbished movie theatre, the Lensic Theater, now a major performing arts venue.

Every July and August since 1957, opera lovers have been drawn to the magnificent northern New Mexico mountains to enjoy productions by one of America's premier summer opera festivals. Desert Chorale
Founded in 1982 the Santa Fe Desert Chorale is one of the premier professional choral ensembles in the United States. Air Travel to Santa Fe
Santa Fe is served by the Santa Fe Municipal Airport - about 20 minutes from the Plaza. Due to the very limited air service, most people choose to use the Albuquerque International Sunport, about an hour's drive south of Santa Fe.

Does Santa Fe have both public and private schools? What about Universities?
Santa Fe has both public and private schools. The public schools in Santa Fe are operated by Santa Fe Public Schools, with two major high schools, Santa Fe High School and Capital High School. There are many good options for private schools as well, including four private high schools, St. Michael's High School, The New Mexico Academy for Science and Math, Desert Academy, and Santa Fe Preparatory School. In addition, the city has two private liberal arts colleges: St. John's College, U.S. and the College of Santa Fe. There is also a community college, Santa Fe Community College. The city also has an off the reservation school for Native Americans - the Santa Fe Indian School as well as the New Mexico School For The Deaf. Other schools include the Rio Grande School, Desert Montessori School, La Mariposa Montessori, Santa Fe School for the Arts, and The Tara School. More school information can be found here.

White Water Rafting
There are a variety of rafting trips in the area, some for the adventurer who loves the thrill and terror of a ride over rapids! However, there are also some for the family to enjoy together. The rafting season lasts from April to October and includes many trips that are peaceful and placid, some include fishing, others provide visits to areas of interesting rock formations and petroglyphs, and still others drift to river side restaurants for a leisurely meal.
